Michael Kent

Volleyball Coaching

Coach Michael Kent brings over two decades of volleyball coaching experience to Space City Volleyball. He currently serves as Head Coach at The Kinkaid School and spent 13 years as Head Coach at Episcopal High School, building a reputation as one of Houston's most accomplished and dedicated coaches.

Beyond the sideline, Coach Kent founded Katy United Volleyball Club — a 43-team organization serving athletes ages 7–18 — and brings 8 years of competitive playing experience to his coaching philosophy.

Frequently Asked Questions

★What grade levels are the clinics for?

All programs are open to 6th through 8th grade athletes. Whether your child is a beginner or has prior experience, we have a program designed for their level.

★How do I register and pay?

All registrations and payments are handled securely through PlayMetrics. Simply click any "Register" button on this page to get started. It only takes a few minutes.

★What should my athlete bring?

Athletes should bring athletic shoes (court shoes preferred), knee pads, water, and wear comfortable athletic clothing. A volleyball is not required — we provide equipment.

★What's the difference between the two serving clinics?

The Beginner Clinic focuses on foundational mechanics — arm swing, hand contact, and float/topspin basics. The Advanced Clinic builds on those fundamentals with zone serving, jump serves, and strategic placement.

★Can my athlete do both serving clinics on June 7?

Yes! The Beginner Clinic runs 4:30–5:30 PM and the Advanced Clinic runs 5:30–6:30 PM, so athletes can attend both back-to-back for maximum reps and development.

★Is the coach certified and background checked?

Yes. Coach Michael Kent is USAV IMPACT & SafeSport certified and CPR/First Aid/AED trained. Athlete safety is our top priority at every session.

★How many spots are available?

Space is intentionally limited to keep groups small and ensure every athlete gets quality individual attention and coaching. We strongly recommend registering early.

★Where is the facility located?

All programs are held at 3427 Alba Rd, Houston, TX 77018. The facility is easily accessible from major Houston freeways.

★Can younger students sign up?

Yes! 4th and 5th graders are welcome to sign up for the Beginner Serving Clinic. It's a great opportunity for younger athletes to start building foundational skills in a fun, supportive environment.
